1. Confirm Working Voltage
- Standard low voltage AC: 380V / 400V / 415V / 480V, for industrial generators and mains power systems.
- Medium & High Voltage: 3.3kV /6kV / 10kV / 10.5kV /11kV / 35kV, designed for power plants, wind farms and substation commissioning.
- DC Load Bank: 12V / 24V / 48V / 110V / 220V / 400V / 800V / 1000V, applied to battery discharging, EV chargers, energy storage and telecom power supplies.
- Special Custom Voltage: 400Hz aviation 115/200V, marine 440V/450V, data center 208V, etc.
2. Determine Required Power Rating
- For generator testing: Rated power of load bank shall be 80%~100% of generator rated power to support full-load aging test.
- For UPS & backup power acceptance: Match UPS rated capacity, with support for 50% load, 100% full load and 125% short-time overload test.
- For battery & EV charger discharge: Calculate power based on max voltage and current with 10% power margin.
- For power plant & offshore project: Adopt containerized modular load banks, which allow parallel connection for capacity expansion.
3. Choose Load Type
- Resistive Load Bank: Most widely used for basic acceptance of generators, UPS and shore power.
- Resistive-Inductive (RL) Load: Simulate inductive loads such as pumps and fans, ideal for marine and motor-driven power systems.
- RLC Resistive-Inductive-Capacitive Load: Adjustable leading/lagging power factor, used for anti-islanding test and reactive power calibration of inverters.
- RCD Non-linear Load: Simulate distorted current of servers and switching power supplies, mainly for type approval of UPS and inverters.
- DC Load Bank: Only applicable to DC circuit discharge and performance inspection, never connect to AC power.
4. Select Structure According to Application
- Wheeled Portable Type: 10–200kW, easy to move for temporary workshop & on-site inspection.
- 19-inch Rack Mount Type: Installed inside data center cabinets, low noise and dustproof for permanent aging test.
- Cabinet Fixed Type: 200–1000kW, for long-term fixed use in factories.
- Containerized Integrated Type: 500kW–10MW, IP56 waterproof & anti-corrosion, for outdoor power stations, offshore platforms and wind farms.
5. Environmental Protection Grade
- Indoor data center: IP54 dust-proof and low-noise model is acceptable.
- Open air, dock and marine environment: IP56 or above with salt-spray anti-corrosion treatment is mandatory.
- Extreme high/low temperature areas: Customize enhanced cooling and cold-start function.
6. Control & Optional Functions
- Basic: Manual step load adjustment via buttons. Advanced options: Local touch screen, PC upper computer software, remote Ethernet/WiFi control, automatic test report generation. Additional modules for temperature rise recording, harmonic analysis and data storage are available on request.
